Regarding Privacy and Security - FTC Sets Rule Requiring Public Notification of PHR Breaches.
This is no different or less important than the recent revelations of Credit Card / PCI breaches. This is an important issue over Security and Privacy.
These new rules attempt to tighten the controls and governance over Public Health Record data. This is just at the beginning and issues like this will continue to consume the news as the Federal Government incents through stimulus, EHR/EMR development and implementations. The move away from paper and manual process is a key to our future success towards efficient and higher quality Healthcare through innovative technology infusion.
