Should E-Health Records Be A Job Perk?
As corporate America struggles with escalating health care premiums, why would EMR/EHR be considered a Perk? It would seem to be an obvious cost-efficiency effort, much like that of migrating employees away from hard paychecks to Direct Deposit, and web-based Pay Stubs and W2s.
That is just on the Expense-side of the equation. Consider the value of patients actually having digital heath records at their finger-tips? Gone should be the days of sitting on hold with your doctors’ office trying to get someone to fax you a copy of your own Blood Test which you paid for. We certainly would want EMR/EHR to progress due to efficiency-sake and not to be inhibited due to Medical-Provider competitiveness, do we?
