Data Loss Prevention, a Firing Offense

Data Loss Prevention

What has become casual behavior by corporate workers with Texting, blogging, and emailing without appropriate governance and controls (and restraint), could be cause for Termination.

This creates a condition that I like to call "a Screen door in a Submarine." Sensitive corporate data, literally jumping across corporate firewalls and other rule-based technologies. Perimeter security methods and controls become defeated as data (content) is tossed over the transom, in very casual ways using text messaging, social networks, etc. Corporate Compliance Officers stay awake at night imagining such scenarios that affect Brand and reputation. As a result, it is no surprise that violators of company Data policies, are at risk for losing their jobs.
